If you have been watching HGTV or looking through Houzz, you have noticed that gray is everywhere in kitchen remodeling. Gray seems to have become the IT color for cabinetry, tile, flooring and paint. Why has gray become so popular? It’s sophisticated and versatile.
Sophisticated
Gray gives a kitchen a touch of elegance as can been seen in this stunning kitchen remodel. Pairing dove gray islands with fresh white cabinets gives this kitchen a bright, sophisticated feel.
Gray is the ultimate neutral, the one shade that literally goes with everything. There are numerous different shades of gray to work with. Charcoal, iron, silver, dove, oyster and pearl grays are all beautiful, each in their own way. They can be combined in all sorts of stylish ways, used to create contrasts, to highlight certain elements in the kitchen or to create focal points.
Versatile
A mix between black and white, gray is by definition a neutral. But its varying shades, whether light dove or dark charcoal, make gray as versatile as any color. In this kitchen, the homeowner chose to mix gray with refreshing touches of yellow.
Is gray here to stay? We do not know the answer, but while it’s here we are going to have fun using it in our kitchen designs.
