Do you ever picture your home with an extra kid’s bedroom, a bigger kitchen, or a bright, airy master suite? You’re not alone. When you’re happy with the things you can’t change about your home—such as the neighborhood, the yard, the school district, and the commutes to work and to shopping—adding on is the best way to go. There are several types of home additions to choose from – single or multi-story, second floor, room addition or bump out.
Single Or Multi-Story Addition
A single or multi-room story addition is built on to the side, back or front of the house. When designed and built well, a house addition blends into the existing structure. This type of addition can be used for a lot of things: to enlarge a kitchen, add an extra bedroom, bathroom, family room or master suite.
Second Story Addition
We have many clients who purchase ranch homes as their first homes, but outgrow the space once they have children. Often they realize it would be nice to have more bedrooms, bathrooms, or even a second floor laundry room. Instead of having to move, a second floor home addition can give you exactly the room you want designed especially for your family. These additions can enhance the inside and outside of your home giving it greater value.
Room Addition Or Bump Out
A room addition or bump out is a structure built onto the side or back of the house meant and is used for a single function, such as a bedroom, bathroom, family room or sun room. Usually it only expands the size of a single room on the existing house. A room addition or house bump out is an addition scaled down, but it might be all you need.
Because a home addition will affect the look of the outside and inside of your house, it is important to select a remodeling contractor that is experienced and has a proven track record in this area.
