Our client came to us with a pinterest board full of ideas for her kitchen remodel. She knew that she wanted white cabinets, but she also wanted something to give the kitchen warmth and interest. A walnut island and beverage station added the perfect amount of contrast to the white perimeter cabinets. Gold handles and light fixtures gave everything a little sparkle.
Out With The Oak And In With The New
When designing this kitchen remodel the first request was to replace the outdated oak cabinets with white cabinetry. White cabinets create a blank canvas. They go with just about anything and coordinate seamlessly with a variety of kitchen elements – tile backsplashes, countertops, appliances, flooring, artwork, rugs and dishes. And best of all, white cabinets can be used in any design style.
The Wow Of Walnut
Walnut was used in the island and beverage station as a juxtaposition to the white cabinets. The one drawback of painted cabinets is that you do not see any wood grain. Walnut has a particularly striking grain pattern and color. Pairing the two gives this kitchen just the right mix of textures and colors. Walnut also gives the entire kitchen an elegant, refined look that makes it warm and inviting.
Polished Marble Mosaic And Quartzite Blend Beautifully
Showcased beneath the walnut trimmed hood, this polished marble chevron mosaic backsplash provides the perfect focal point for this stunning kitchen. It also blends seamlessly with the white macaubas quartzite countertop. This delicate, sophisticated Brazilian stone is a cream color with random veins of charcoal and light gray.

The lighting in your kitchen can completely transform the look and feel of the room, taking it from ordinary to extraordinary. The right light fixtures can be like jewelry for your home – a glamorous finishing touch that makes all the details come together. And what could be more glam than gold? You can see hints of gold throughout this kitchen from the industrial sconces above the sink, to the gold lining in the island pendants and open chandelier atop the kitchen table. The gold handles on the cabinets complete the look.
